“The World’s only Wildlife Capital”
Nairobi is the only capital city in the world that hosts a wildlife park. Imagine seen the lions and elephants from the comfort of your office? Or on your way home being able to spot rhinos in Nairobi? Or meeting lions on the road taking a strong? This is Nairobi for you. Wide open grass plains and backdrop of the city scrapers, scattered acacia bush play host to a wide variety of wildlife including the endangered black rhino, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, buffaloes, giraffes and diverse birdlife with over 400 species recorded. Visitors can enjoy the park’s picnic sites, three campsites and the walking trails for hikers.
WHAT TO ENJOY IN NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK
Due to the favorable tropical climate, the park is open for tourism all year round. The park is never closed and is always the first kenya park visited by tourists on a kenyan safari.
Nairobi Park, managed by the Kenya Wildlife Service, offers a glimpse of the Kenya wildlife landscape. There are camps in the park and places to do picnics.
As a tourist, you will encounter the Big 5 animals. In Africa, the Big five game animals are the lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and African buffalo. The term was coined by big-game hunters to refer to the five most difficult animals in Africa to hunt on foot, but is now more widely used by game viewing tourists and safari tour operators. Early morning gamedrives are advised so that you have a chance to see the wildlife in the cool of the morning.
Other animals in the park include giraffe, baboon, zebra, wildebeest and cheetah. Plus 100 mammal species.
There are also more that 400 migratory and endemic bird species that fly between Africa and Europe.
